Wonderful hotel

I have been visiting Singapore since 1977. In the early years I stayed at the Marco Polo hotel on Tanglin Circus. Today neither the Marco Polo nor Tanglin Circus exist anymore. The closest alternative is Traders Hotel. It offers the same exceptional service, style, and attention to detail. The pool is great, the health club exceptional. Restaurants are wonderful. The proximity to Tanglin Mall and Orchard Road are real benefits. The bar is not comparable to the one at Marco Polo, and, alas, there is no signature tall Sikh greeting you at the front door. Hotel is a little pricey, but you can find occasional deals that make a stay attractive. The travel agency rates are always better than booking directly through the hotel.

We have been to Singapore several times already.The is the first time we stayed near Orchard Road. Trader's is one of the older hotels we have stayed at. There is no flat screen TV. The rooms were slightly on the small side but clean. It was great having complimentary broadband in the room. The gym was open 24 hours! The pool is nice and large. The hotel also provided a free shuttle to orchard room but is is first come-first serve. We were not able to get on the 10:15am shuttle. It was almost full when it reach traders because the shuttle already pick-up guest at their other property. They should have provide a larger vehicle or multiple vehicles at poplar times especially at popular times. The staff were friendly and efficient. They were happy to answer any questions. The hotel itself is in a quiet corner but Orchard road is a about a 10 minute walk away. The Singapore tourism board is across the street is it provide easy access to travel material. The building also had a small cafe which was great for breakfast except it only open M-F. If you didn't get the buffet breakfast included, you do have to look around for breakfast. The Tanglin Mall connected to the hotel doesn't open until 10am. Overall, it was a good value for the amount of money we paid for.

08/02/2009Outstanding hotel in great location. service was excellent. we used the health facility every day. adjoins a terrific shopping center with everything you might need, incoluding groceries, food street, atm' ...
Outstanding hotel in great location. Service was excellent. We used the health facility every day. Adjoins a terrific shopping center with everything you might need, incoluding groceries, food street, ATM's and even Starbucks. Memorable pool and poolside restaurant. Office facilities and staff exceptional. Free internet in room. Post office across the street. Walking distance to all of Orchard Road, botanic gardens, and US Embassy. Room a little small. The bar was unimpressed and drinks expensive. Hotel telephone in room did not have speaker, and had poor sound quality. For the hard of hearing with hearing aids, it is next to impossible to use this phone. Bed way too soft... but then we like very hard beds.
